Graduates of the American Government--For Real!! class are qualified to become Student Senators. Student Senate meets during a 15-week spring session, choosing critical issues to study, calling expert witnesses, providing testimony, writing bills...and learning how to lead.

Dave Racer teaches during the fall and spring semesters at YEAH Academy, a group tutorial service for home-schooled middle and high-school students in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, western Wisconsin and the surrounding region. 

The fall class is "American Government - For Real!!" The course is divided into two parts:

1. How government is supposed to work: The founding documents: Northwest Ordinance, Declaration of Independence, line-by-line study of the Constitution (originalist version). How governemnt really works: Political parties, lobbyists, media, taxes, Medicare/Medicaid, how bills really become laws, the activist court.

2. How government really works: Political parties, lobbyists, media, taxes, Medicare/Medicaid, how bills really become laws, the activist court.
